MAORI MOVIE - asking people how they are and responding with their feelings.

This is our Maori Movie. I went with Alice and Miss Butson and we created a Maori movie with us speaking maori and subtitles underneath. There are the steps that we go through, and then the movie! (that is the English version.) The short movie was based on greetings and how we feel. Watch the Maori Movie below! Enjoy!

This is the first step where we learnt the greetings and sentences.

Ways of asking people how they are:
Kei te pēhea koe? How are you?
Hei aha māu? What's it to you?
I pēhea tō rā? How was your day?
He aha ō mahi i tēnei rā? What did you do today?

How are you?
Things you could reply with when people ask how you are / feelings:
Kei te pai ahau I’m good
Ka nui te ora I’m great
Me koe? And you?
Piro rawa atu! It sucked!
Pai mairka taku ra! I had a great day!
Ka rawe Choice, awesome
Ehara mai! Ka mau te wehi! Awesome!
Ka rawe! Tino pai kē! Too much!

How to make introductions:
Kia ora Hi
Tēnā koe Hello (to one person)
Tēnā kōrua Hello (to two people)
Tēnā koutou Hello (to three or more people)
Welcome Haere mai

Ko ? taku ingoa - introduce yourself
Ko? tana ingoa - introduce another
Ko tenei toku toahine - this is my sister
Ko tenei toku papa - this is my father
Ko tenei toku mama - this is my Mother
Ko tenei toku Tamahine - this is my daughter
Ko tenei toku Tama - this is my son

Haere mai! Welcome! Enter!
Nau mai! Welcome!
Nō konei anō koe? Are you from around here?
Nō konei tonu koe? Are you from around here?
Nō konei ake koe? Are you from around here?

Here is the garage band recording I did of the Maori Greetings.

Now finally, here is the movie we made:

FAMILY MEMBERS - learning our family members names in Maori, and using a way to remember them.

For this task we had to go in groups and find the Maori words for family members, and create some way to remember them. Me, Alice and Giorgia did a song.
Here are the words:

Father=hākoro

Mother=māmā

Brother=parata

Sister=hēhita

Aunty=whaea kēkē

Uncle=matua kēkē

Cousin boy=tuākana

Cousin girl=tuākana

Grandmother=karani

Grandfather=koro

Family Mihi

This is my family mihi. We had to make a family mihi on a presentation site, eg: imovie, keynote, etc. I decided to be creative and do it on Dvolver.

Maori Months

For the moment our class is learning months. We had learn them and then make them into an activity. Me, Alice and Giorgia did a poem.

MY BIRTHDAY

Today we are learning to say our birthday in Maori.

ā te ono o here-turi-koka.

My birthday is the 6th of August.

Explain?

This is my birthday in Maori. I am the 6th of August. So my birthday is... ā te ONO o HERE TURI KOKA
The bold writing is my birthday date in the sentence.
